Stage 2 Performance Software
Stage 2 Software is designed to utilise hardware additions such as an intercooler, air intake system and downpipe. These upgrades replace the restrictive stock components and allow the engine to make power more efficiently, offering a wider power band and bigger increase in mid-range response.
1.8 Litre TSI
2015 saw the release of the new Volkswagen Polo GTI with an updated 1.8 TSI engine. Putting out an impressive 192 PS and 236 LBFT and available as a manual, it's a step up from the previous 1.4l DSG-only. We were excited to get behind the wheel as its weight, size and performance figures looked on paper to be a winning recipe.
In standard form we were left a little underwhelmed; it's not a surprise there haven't been any rave reviews surrounding this cars performance, and more specifically its power delivery. Yes it's capable, well built and has a lot of grip on the road but it's far from exciting. The throttle is very sensitive and emulates a 'sporty' feel but is over-responsive and makes driving in traffic a real effort. You barely touch the accelerator and feel a surge of power; put your foot down more it becomes clear there's nothing left to give and the initial surge was a false promise of performance. It's all positive though, there's lots of room for improvement...
Revo Stage 2 Software offers the performance and driveability you expect from a GTI. Thousands of development miles have gone into unlocking the true potential of the Polo, the extra 37 PS and 39 LBFT of torque brings the car to life and offers more urgent and consistent power delivery.
