In stock form the 5 cylinder Ford Ranger is an underwhelming experience. The 3.2 Duratorq engine feels significantly underpowered for the weight of the vehicle, and the available torque never really translates into forward momentum. Coupled with a very lazy gearbox and long first gear, there was always going to be plenty of room for improvement. How the power is spread over a broader band helps to overcome the weakness of the 6-speed box. The vehicle no longer hunts through gears and instead pulls smoothly using the increased and wider spread of torque. The towing experience is also transformed, even fully laden with its 3.5-tonne limit.
Revo performance ECU Software also offers unique safety features designed to protect your engine. Temperature Protection closely monitors EGT’s (Exhaust Gas Temperatures) and reduces power until temperatures lower. Fuel consumption and economy also play an important part in the Revo development process. By increasing torque and delivering power more efficiently you can expect like-for-like fuel consumption, regardless of the increase in power.
