The Ford Focus is now on its 4th generation and comes equipped with the 2.3L EcoBoost engine. This 280PS variant is derived from the one used in the Mustang and previous model RS. Out of the box it offers 420NM and it's definitely much punchier compared to the MK3 ST with its 2.0L EcoBoost engine.

However, as with the MK2 and MK3 ST, we knew that once our team of in-house calibration engineers got their hands on it, there would be significant improvements. And we weren’t wrong. After thousands of miles and many months of development, you won’t be disappointed with the performance increases and features that we have been able to produce with our Stage 1 ECU software.

Only Revo operates a Global Development Programme through their network of over 400 Revo Authorised Dealers worldwide. Access to vehicles on this scale enables the calibration team to fine-tune products before release, testing products in a wide range of climates and conditions including altitude, fuel quality, humidity. This also allows Revo to test how Revo products perform in different driving scenarios and formed a vital part in the development of Performance ECU Software.

2.3 Ecoboost Stage 2


Intensively tested and refined in house alongside our Global Development Programme, our Stage 2 software has been developed as part of the Revo Performance Pack. Optimised power delivery with much more torque at its disposal to give a deeper sense of connection and involvement with your car. The enhanced driving experience and wider power band is addictive, and gives you a car that begs to be driven hard. 

Knowing that many Ford Focus ST owners aspire to modify their cars past Stage 1, we tasked our development team to identify restrictions with the standard vehicle and provide a solution to maximise performance of the 2.3 ecoboost engine. Stage 2 software has been developed as part of our Revo Performance Pack, giving you ultimate performance with more efficient hardware whilst retaining the factory GPF and catalyst. That's right, we don't need to remove the GPF or catalyst; the Stage 2 software and Performance Pack give huge gains over both stock and Stage 1 whilst remaining street legal. This is the way cars should be tuned, there's no need to make your life difficult we’ve taken the guess-work out of tuning with the performance pack.

Gains of over 100PS and well over 100Nm are impressive, however, it's the power and torque throughout the rev range combined with refinement in pedal feel, clever torque strategies and Revo expertise that gives such good power delivery and a perfect balance of performance, economy, and engine longevity.

ADAPTABLE SOFTWARE

Maintaining full factory knock control, our calibration engineers have extensively tested varying fuel qualities. This means that adaption within the ECU and Revo software will allow you to use 95-102ron fuel on the same calibration. For the optimal balance of performance and driveability, we would recommend using 99ron fuel wherever possible.

TEMPERATURE PROTECTION

Revo Temperature Protection is an array of additional safety features that manage vehicle temperatures and help with vehicle longevity and performance by closely monitoring air, coolant, and oil temperatures.

  • The grill shutters parameters have been enhanced to allow the shutters to open sooner and increase the airflow over the intercooler.
  • The radiator fan routine has been changed to allow it to run faster when required, helping control coolant temperatures.
  • The oil setpoint temperature has been lowered to aid in maintaining lower temps.
  • Engine coolant temperature protection is enabled earlier to add robustness.

EXHAUST

The ST already comes with exhaust overrun. This has been enhanced by Revo offering increased acoustics both in sports and track modes at lower RPM and throttle position than Stage 1.

Left foot braking has been enabled on this vehicle.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Along with all the features above, the software includes the following:

  • Rev limit increased from 6675rpm to 6900rpm. 
  • Rev limiter made softer before hard limit is reached. Soft limit at 6500rpm. 
  • Slippery mode reconfigured to be a lower boost mode ideal for slippery roads, 80% of full power is still available if required. 
  • Sport mode pedal optimised for driver feel. 
  • Anti-lag operating range increased to improve drivability. 
  • Gear shift indicator removed, only the driven already know when to change gear.
